The Philippine Automotive Industry has shown another remarkable performance for November 2016. In a report issued by Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (“CAMPI”) and Truck Manufacturers Association (“TMA”), November 2016 posted 32,966 units sold; this is 22.2 percent increase over the same in 2015 with 26,979 units sold.

All categories had their shares of increases in the past month. In the Passenger Cars segment, market took advantage of the brands’ promotions and events which led to 12,143 units sold or 14 percent units sold from 10,649 units sold in November 2015. Most categories under Commercial Vehicles segment increased which collectively grew 27.5 percent with 20,823 units sold from 16,330 units sold during the same month last year. Arrival of stocks from previous months’ orders contributed to the increase in CV segment.

Among the CV segments, Category III (Light Trucks and Buses) achieved the biggest growth with 84.7 percent with 968 units sold last month from 524 units sold back in November 2015. Category IV (Heavy Duty Trucks and Buses) garnered 40.9 percent with 365 units sold last month compared to 259 units sold of the same month in 2015. Category I (AUVs) grew 28 percent with 6,449 units sold from 5,037 units in November 2015. Category II (SUVs) increased 24.8 percent with 12,905 units sold from 10,344 units last year. It was only Category V (Heavy Duty Truck and Buses) that plummeted with 18.1 percent decline or 136 units sold, a decrease from 166 units sold in November 2015.
